William M Overend

William M. Overend has practiced law in Athens, Georgia since 2002.  A native of Atlanta, Georgia, William is a graduate of the Westminster Schools.  After receiving a degree in journalism from the University of Georgia in 1993, William remained in Athens, working in journalism and event promotion.

In 1999 William returned to UGA for law school and graduated, with honors, from the School of Law in 2002.  From 2002- 2005, William was an Assistant District Attorney for the Western Judicial Circuit (Athens-Clarke and Oconee counties), handling numerous bench and jury trials, and eventually rising to the position of Felony Drug Prosecutor.

In 2005, William joined McArthur & McArthur, P.A.  In March 2008, they formed McArthur, McArthur & Overend, L.L.P.  

William’s practice focuses on Domestic and Family Law; Criminal Defense, and Entertainment Law.

William is active in the Athens, Georgia community and servers on several non-profit boards, including the Athens Justice Project and The Athens Twilight Foundation.
