Uncontested Divorce
An uncontested divorce is when both parties have come to a full agreement on the terms of their divorce. The terms include division of assets and liabilities and creation of a Parenting Plan, Child Support and Spousal Support Orders if applicable. McArthur, McArthur & Overend, L.L.P. is able to offer a very cost effective way to handle your uncontested divorce. We are able to draft all necessary documents, arrange the court filing and march you through completion of the process for much less money than you might think. We often charge just one flat fee rather than requiring the type of retainer required for other divorce proceedings.Using McArthur, McArthur & Overend, L.L.P. for your uncontested divorce allows you the benefit of having an experienced attorney create and review all documents. It avoids the risk of procedural errors common when people try to do it on their own, and gives you the piece of mind knowing that your divorce was handled correctly and efficiently.
Kitchen Table Mediation
Many divorcing couples are able to figure out the general framework of their agreement but want help filling in the details, resolving minor disagreements and “making it legal.” If this sounds familiar, the Kitchen Table approach to divorce mediation might be what you are looking for. This approach provides a way to obtain a low cost, amicable divorce.
In Kitchen Table divorce mediation the clients come in and inform the divorce mediator of the structure of their agreement. The mediator will help the clients with the last issue or two, and then help them consider the details or smaller issues they may not have thought about (who claims the children for tax purposes, how should payments be characterized, etc.). After this meeting the mediator will draft all necessary paperwork and send it to the clients for review.
Most Kitchen Table mediations take only one meeting. There may be another follow up meeting if necessary, though usually any follow up issues are addressed via email.
McArthur, McArthur & Overend, L.L.P., our trained divorce mediators can help resolve any final issues between you and your spouse and then prepare the necessary documents for your case rather than referring you to another attorney to write up the documents.
